Music/ Performance
Tenor Christopher Bowen was born in Christchurch New Zealand and studied singing at Otago University where he first encountered Douglas Lilburn’s music. He moved to London in 2003 and for the past 12 years has enjoyed a varied mix of recital, opera and oratorio solo singing. In demand as concert soloist both here and in New Zealand, he has received critical acclaim for fluent and articulate performances of Handel and Bach.

As a member of the BBC Singers, he is at the forefront of new music creation and performance. He appears at the BBC Proms and records weekly for broadcast and CD. Recent solo appearances on CD include Judith Weir’s The Vanishing Bridegroom, Delius’ A Song of the High Hills and Vaughan Williams’ A Cambridge Mass. He is returning to Christchurch in October to sing Britten’s War Requiem.
