Jaya Savige was born in Sydney and grew up on Bribie Island, Queensland. He is the author of three collections of poetry: Latecomers (2005), winner of the Kenneth Slessor Prize (NSW Premiers Awards), Surface to Air (2011), shortlisted for The Age Poetry Book of the Year, and Maze Bright (2014). Jaya received a Gates Scholarship to undertake his PhD at Christ’s College, University of Cambridge (2009-13), where he wrote on James Joyce. He is a Lecturer in English at New College of the Humanities, London, and the Poetry Editor of The Australian newspaper. He was a 2014 Australia Council writer in residence at the Cité Internationale des Arts, Paris.
